The sky is still blue

is a deeply personal project that after a long period of work has now finally resulted in a book. The book consists of analogue photographs by Roine Magnusson in interaction with poetic texts by Maria Elander, and depicts a strenuous exploration of a Värmland countryside where Roine has her roots. But the book also seeks to capture memories and emotions with the changes of nature as a backdrop.

The photo series The Sky is Still Blue is based on a place, a place that means a lot. From the time I was a little boy until now, I have lived in the village of Gräs in Värmland. The village is located long and narrow along the eastern edge of Lake Grässjön in Sunnemo parish, and this is where large parts of my family are.

A painstaking exploration of a place but also of old photographic techniques with fancy names like Lith, Palladium and Silver Gelatin. There is no room for digital technology here, it is analogue cameras with film that matter.

The cameras also have nice names and some of the favorites are 3 different Rollieflex, Leica 3g, Agfa Clack, Linhof, Nikon F3, Mamiya 6 and Leica M3.
